What Would Make A Good Hermione Costume?

Our drama class (all boys school) is doing a Harry Potter based play this year. Because I am a bit shorter than most of the class, I got picked out to play Hermione.
I need to watch the movies and read the books again, but my mom has asked me what my costume (or even costumes) will probably look like, as she is probably going to need to buy some extra things that the school can’t provide.
What do you think would make up a good Hermione costume?

If the play is based early in the series of books, then I think that almost a “school uniform” thing would be right. If it’s based later on in the series, just about anything goes. She wore jeans and a hoodie in the 3rd movie, after all. Of course, you have to have the school robes.

The movies’ costumes are different from the books. In the books, wizards all wear robes – long, closed-fronted robes. In the movies, the kids wear muggle school uniform with an open-fronted Oxbridge style robe over them. Either way, though, the girls and boys wear pretty much the same thing, so I doubt you need much different from your classmates. I’d say the key distinctive feature of Hermione is her hair. Get a bushy brown wig. And then get some big heavy books to carry round!
